One of the best decisions that I have made concerning my dog was to crate train her. I got her as an 8 week old puppy who had never been separated from her mother or siblings. So, there was some protesting when I put her in a box away from everybody. It was extremely difficult for me to leave my crying puppy in doggy jail. I had made arrangements for Gina to help me with her training and socialization. She was a great support and source of education for the whole crate training ordeal. Not only did she give me some tips on how to get through the situation, she offered me emotional support for what I was experiencing. With her words of encouragement, I stuck it out, and got my puppy used to her new den. Now, I can put my dog in a crate anywhere, and know that she’ll be comfortable and safe.

Our dog, Cassie, was 8 years old this year and had always had problems with fear aggression. She had never bitten anyone but it seemed that in the two years living in a quieter neighborhood with homes further apart that she had actually gotten worse in her behavior. This was particularly noticeable when people came to our home.
Facing the prospect of a vacation without the dog tagging along was what brought us to the point of calling in an expert. I found Dog Authority on-line while attempting to learn more about fear aggression in dogs. I e-mailed Gina and described the problem. She was quick to get in touch with me and make an appointment for the first visit. My husband and I both felt the first visit was the real test to Gina’s expertise. She was professional, respectful of our dog, yet she managed to demonstrate that she was in control. She was helpful in instructing us how to regain the control in our home. Homework assignments were suggested and following them allowed us to get our dog to do things that she had not been able to do for many years. The instructions were helpful from week to week building my confidence and Cassie’s.
Gina suggested using healing touch therapy. Being in the health field, I was open to the suggestion and the first session was truth in the telling. Our dog settled down very quickly and seemed to truly enjoy the work. At the end of that first session, Cassie gazed into Gina’s face with a laughing smile that would melt your heart.
We still have some distance to go with Cassie’s training, however, I am seeing changes in her canine personality, she is more enjoyable and I am more confident in facing the challenges.
Gina is a professional, with strong talent and compassion for animals. She is steady and cautious in her work. I strongly recommend her services if you are thinking an old needs to learn some new tricks.

I have a 5 month old Yorkshire Terrier. Lacy didn't like her puppy chow. Sometimes she wouldn't eat more than 5 pieces a day. Now that we switched to Flint River Ranch Puppy and Adult Dog Food, Lacy loves to eat and we use it as a treat. In two weeks Lacy went from 4lb 3oz to 4lb 6oz. The vet said she is doing great.

To Those Considering Gina’s Healing Touch,
Clipper (Roonie-Tunes at times to me) nestled her way into many people’s hearts during her almost 15 years of life journey. A large, sweet dog with funny antics, she was fortunate in her final weeks to have Gina with her special Healing Touch regularly join her on her journey.
Racked by back pain that stiffened and shrank the muscles in her hind legs, Clipper had difficulty with stairs and at times making it home from walks. Confusion from old age dementia and limited eyesight also entered her life, along with high anxiety.
Healing Touch visibly eased Clipper’s pain and frozen tension, helping energy flow even to areas with little circulation for 2 years. Gina’s identification of the spot where back pain concentrated also helped me make changes in Clipper’s environment to eliminate everyday re-injury of the spot. Regular sessions of Healing Touch brought amazing and lasting flexibility to those atrophied legs, and Clipper’s mobility improved substantially. Gina touched Clipper in a massaging, petting manner that Clipper enjoyed, and Clipper’s body magically responded. When Clipper neared the end of her journey, Healing Touch also brought respite for a time from confusion and anxiety.
Clipper visibly appreciated the energy and calm, the improved ability to walk and do stairs, the special enlivening attention. I am sure it would make her happy to know Gina was helping other dogs with Healing Touch. That is the kind of dog Clipper (Roonie-Tunes) was.
In loving respect to Clipper and Gina,
Martha Hill, Ph.D.

If you want to leave your home and animals in capable and loving hands I highly recommend the Dog Authority. I met Gina, owner of Dog Authority and distributor of Flint River Ranch animal food at Shalom Lutheran Church's 2004 Christmas Bazaar. Since then, we have used the Dog Authority to take care of our three (3) inside cats and several outside cats. It is a comfort to have someone we trust not only with our pets - but with access to our home to keep an eye on things and notify someone in the event of an emergency. The Dog Authority monitored cat food and water, litter boxes, checked for mail, and left daily updates on our furry family.
Whether it's 1 day or 14 days, your pets will not be forgotten or neglected and you will not have to rely on family and friends.
In addition to our cats, we have a 14 year old mixed Terrier/Sheltie dog. We switched Sparky to the Senior Flint River Ranch Dog Food with Glucosamine. During Sparky's spring check up, our vet was amazed at how well she is doing. Of course her age is showing, but a good all natural dog food with no "garbage" in it has made a huge difference in her over-all health.
Did I mention our inside cats are on Flint River Ranch's low fat adult cat food and the outside cats are on the regular maintenance formula?
Awesome stuff - all the cats love it and have all had A+ check-ups!! Flint River may be a little more expensive than Purina, but the home delivery service and money saved in vet bills more than equals out the cost.
Thank you Dog Authority!!

Where to start on how grateful I am to have found Dog Authority? Probably at the beginning: on June 29, 2004 we adopted a Shar Pei mix we named Peige. She was two or three months old, severely underweight and completely without any socialization, training, or manners. After less than a week we were ready to return her. We had made no progress on house training, she barked incessantly in her crate and was completely out of control. Having never had a dog of my own (my parents took care of our dogs growing up), I was at a loss. Upon emailing Gina I got a response the next day packed full of ideas, encouragement, and resources. She even offered to come over and help assess the situation herself and had a puppy class that we could start attending. Next we got a little crazy and adopted a second dog, a purebred shar pei named McKinley. He had some obedience training, but was slightly fear aggressive and had severe separation anxiety. Gina gave us lots of ideas and had an obedience class that he could attend to build his confidence and ours. It has now been a year that we have had the two dogs and been strong supporters of Dog Authority. We still have our dogs involved in training (now with the outdoor classes to practice our manners with distractions), not because they are poorly behaved, but because they both love to go and "work" with Gina and play with their classmates (an example: if you say "Gina" in front of my dogs, it's like saying "treat" or "go for a...", they both absolutely adore her and all of her staff).
We also utilize the pet sitting services, which have been a real lifesaver at times. I can't tell you how pleased I am to know that if I have to leave our dogs home or just need them to be let outside during the day that someone with a love for dogs and the expertise to handle whatever may come up is there. We recently left for a week and both dogs had exceptional care while we were gone and all the details were taken care of by Dog Authority.
Over the last year I have learned so much from Gina and her staff and furthermore I have found an awesome relationship with my dogs where I can walk them (not the other way around) and take them places or leave them home knowing it won't be a big production. I cannot thank Dog Authority enough for everything they have done for us.
Sincerely,
Ashley F. Brant (and Peige and McKinley too!)

A few months ago, Dakota turned two years old. He was only eight months old when I adopted him from the Huron Valley Humane Society - a full-grown puppy! Since I had crate-trained him and taught him to sit, I didn't really consider further training. He was so friendly with adults, kids, and other animals. In the first year, his main exposure was to my family. It wasn't until I met my soon-to-be husband when Dakota's world began to expand. I started to realize that he was the one in control - an alpha-male to the core. He was jumping on people to greet them, pulling on the leash, begging, digging, chewing on my things, and not listening to me at all. Unintentionally I was promoting his negative behaviors. It was about time I found my inner "alpha" and that's when I contacted Gina. The Levels classes sounded like the best solution for Dakota and me - it was going to give us time to both learn and practice new behaviors. Gina was a great support. She was always professional, a great source of knowledge, and very open to questions and discussion. One thing that struck me from the start, she took the time to observe and attend to each dog and owner in the class. Dakota was making great progress - I was so proud of him. A few months into the class, things in my life started to change - I became engaged, moved to Ann Arbor, had a change in work schedule, started planning our wedding, etc. These changes also affected Dakota. It became very noticeable in his behaviors. Some days were great, others were difficult - I think they call them the terrible twos :). I started realizing that although we practiced daily, I was not consistently reinforcing his good behaviors throughout the day and was allowing some of the inappropriate behaviors. Gina was a great help during this time. As a result, my fiancé and I have made an extra effort to normalize our daily routine, take Dakota for more frequent walks, reinforce his good behaviors, be consistent, and just give Dakota his special time. He's very much a member of the family. We still have our moments but my little guy has made tremendous improvements. Dakota seems happier, calmer, and very content. I've also become more confident in my ability work with Dakota. I highly recommend Gina's services. She is caring, understaning, a wealth of knowledge, and an absolute professional.

The classes have been a wonderful resource for us; Zoey is so much better now than when we started. Your approach to training dogs is wonderful; you understand that pet owners are busy people, and do not try to cram our heads too full too fast. We (Erin and myself) have attended other classes with our first dog, Claire, where the instructors blew through so many different concepts that we couldn't keep up. Thank you very much for your support with our dog Zoey, you have really helped us to become better owners for her.
